The First Prefabricated Pump Station
Carroll Childers Company builds its first prefabricated pumping station in Houston, TX — pioneering a new approach to pump station construction that would set the standard for the industry. The prefabricated model allowed for factory-controlled quality, faster installation, and easier long-term service.
Dale Bowman Joins as Apprentice
Dale Bowman begins his career at Carroll Childers Company as an apprentice, receiving hands-on training in every aspect of pump station design, construction, application engineering, and field servicing. This comprehensive foundation would shape PMC's approach to technical excellence for decades to come.
First PLC Replaces Electro-Mechanical Controls
Dale Bowman introduces the first Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to a Carroll Childers pump station, replacing the traditional electro-mechanical relay systems. This forward-thinking upgrade dramatically improved reliability, diagnostics, and operational flexibility — and established PMC's reputation for embracing technology that benefits clients.
Dale Bowman Becomes Director of Engineering
After six years of progressive responsibility, Dale Bowman is appointed Director of Engineering at Carroll Childers Company. In this role, he oversees the design and construction of pump stations across the golf course, municipal, and landscape industries throughout the Houston area and beyond.
PMC Founded — The Legacy Continues
Carroll Childers retires after 45 years of building some of the most reliable pump stations in the industry. Rather than let that expertise disappear, Pumps, Motors & Controls, Inc. is founded specifically to continue manufacturing and servicing Carroll Childers equipment. PMC becomes the only fully factory-trained successor — preserving the original design knowledge, service procedures, and commitment to quality that Carroll Childers built his reputation on.
